1. They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.

2. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.”

4. He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;

6. For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

7. I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hadeswill not prevail against it.

8. So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;

9. You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

10. Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.

11. For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
